We are hosting Coach Wyatt's Double Wing clinic on Saturday, June 2.  He will be going over Double Wing and Open Wing concepts with our players in attendance.

Thank you, Tito.  I agree, it was a great clinic.  I always try to find a good venue for Coach Wyatt and stock it with food and drink.  We want the coaches here to be comfortable and have a good time.  It was amazing to see guys like yourself coming in from all over the country.  Two were from Wisconsin, two were from Ohio, one was from Philly...  My boys had the best time ever.

Here's a text from one of them:

"Thanks Coach for inviting me to camp.  Had a great time and learned new plays and met new people."

Here's a text from a dad sent to my AC:

"I'm forever indebted to you.  If you ever need me, I'm a call away. How you go hard for my son and many others means so much more than you can imagine.  How thankful I am that my son has been blessed with a mentor like you and Coach Potter. Thanks Thanks Thanks."

So the kids must have told their parents how good a time they had.

Another dad was impressed that Coach Wyatt was willing to travel 3000 miles to come here, and that this was his only road clinic this season.  I can't thank Coach Wyatt enough.  He is the Master Teacher and I was glad to see my kids have to whitewash our approach and learn his.  A great clinic taught an incredible teacher.

I was happy for the player turnout that we had yesterday.  We are in a dead-period now and don't have access to our kids during the week.  Many don't have phones and it was also a weekend.  Can be kind of tough to corral a group that's (for the most part) not able to drive themselves.  Thanks to our parents, too.  Although we made this available to everyone, the only varsity kids that showed up were ones that played for me last year.  And although the varsity says they will be running the double wing this year, not a single varsity coach was in attendance.  A man comes 3,000 miles to your backyard to teach an offense that you ran for the first time last year and you don't attend?  Yeah, that's some dedication right there.  ::)

In addition, Coach Wyatt asked me two bring 2 Quarterbacks.  I brought in our JV starter and the Varsity's possible starter.  The Varsity kid played RB/LB for me last year and has never been a QB.  So I thought the opportunity for him to work with Coach Wyatt would be a good one, since the Varsity was pinning their hopes on him as a starting QB.  I also thought the Varsity staff would be interested in seeing how he performed.  I guess not...

I am a Spread guy & still would have been there. I totally don't understand how not one member of the Varsity Staff was there. It almost seems like they really had no idea whom Coach Wyatt is. The other option is that they are not serious about coaching.

What is concerning is that none of them showed any loyalty to the program & the players. It really was a great opportunity that was completely overlooked.

--They were told.

--Yeah, how 'bout that?

It really was a great opportunity that was completely overlooked.

--Absolutely, it was.

CoachDP,

Did you give any considerations or comparisons of Wyatt's Open Wing vs. Murphy's SGDW?  Or, did you already know what direction you were headed?  Keep in mind, I don't know if there is any comparisons to be made between the two.  I was just curious how you came to be interested in the Open Wing concepts.

I’ve looked at both because I have both materials.  I like being under Center and Coach Wyatt’s material is conducive to that.
