I am considering putting a DumCoach Clinic together much like Daniel did a couple of years back but this one being online so I have a few questions for everyone:

1)  Would you attend?  Would most likely schedule this on a Saturday.
2)  If yes to #1, what month would you prefer?
3)  If yes to #1, what topics would you like covered?

My thought is that the cost of this would be $10 per coach with the proceeds being split between DumCoach.com and Coaches-Clinic.com.  Also, I am looking for coaches that might be interested in presenting.

I would expect it to be one coach after another presenting.  We could do a round table at the end if everyone is interested on something like that.

We'll probably have a thread going on about it at the same time, like Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Yes I would attend.

August 1-ish

I would like to see a positions specific format so that any coach can take what he has learned and immediately apply it too his own systems.

I would do it right on the cusp of the season for a couple of reasons. No one is tied up with baseball season, most new Members sign up in July, August and all info would be fresh and ready to use immediately.

A presentation on the DL positions.

Drilling Linebackers.

Coverage- both zone and man.

Teaching gap control for the box

Creating a tackling circuit that is position specific.

Spill vs Funnel philosophies.

A presentation on the Center position.

Simple passing concepts.

Blocking progression drills for the OL and the backfield.

QB maintenance.

The value of motions and formations.

Play calling philosophies.

Special Teams philosophies and techniques.

Managing the Parents.

Managing the game.

Team Building ideas.

Practice organization.

No that would take a week the way Michael likes to talk !

A coach like you can cover a group of topics without getting system specific.

For example most youth coaches do not fully understand how the pieces parts fit together on Defense. If they knew....they could better troubleshoot.

Mention gap control and you get a blank stare most of the time.

Stuff like that I have picked up coaching Spring Ball. I have kids from 4-6 different teams and half of them didn't know what the A Gap was or a 3 tech. They were not rookies either. I have no clue how their Fall coaches communicated to their players....my guess is they didn't other than a lot of pointing.

So round table

Im not sure what a round table format looks like. Its sounds like coaches talking over one another but that is my assumption.

Maybe a format where each presentation is on the clock for 15 minutes with a 15 minute Q&A. I am imagining an all day affair like Glazier and not a typical one hour on line Clinic deal. Viewers log in and out whenever they want too.

Dont know...just thinking out loud.

This is what I was thinking.  Possibly a little longer to present, but not much more than 45 to 50 minutes.  Basically the webinar/clinic would be virtual room where attendees could come and go based off of the schedule of speakers.  I would also plan on recording it.

I like this idea and I like having it closer to the actual season. If running for an 8-10 hour day, there could be a lot of items covered. Possible topics:

  • Practice organization/Eliminating wasted practice time
  • Handling parents
  • Coaching O-line
  • Coaching D-line
  • Coaching running basics
  • Coaching passing basics
  • Coaching pass catching basics
  • Coaching tackling
  • Special Team play
  • Team building
  • Teaching aggression
  • The DC Wing-T

Not sure what the concept of the clinic is, but I am looking at this being more of a generalized or basic clinic that can be applied across all offenses and defenses. Definitely need to record this for future reference.

Ide offer some these if you like:

Run fits and how to teach them

Teaching single high coverages: cover 1 and cover  3

Personel more important positions , how to match up with any offense.

Basically anything defense, o line (although ill defer to michael), and time management  in practice and game.

Lemme know

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.
