You read about DB's being "tied to the front";
or conversely, as with TCU's defense, the secondary is "independent" from the front.
What does this actually mean, and what are the advantages/disadvantages of each concept?

pm Jrtitan.  You wont find a better or more knowledgeable explanation anywhere.

I wonder if the reason TCU gives up 50 a game is that their secondary is not dictated by front.  😛

Yeah, but it sure took a long time to figure it out.

I dont think it is  true that the secondary  is not "related" to the front in tcus defense.  what I think it true is they can play their many different "coverages" (which if you study the defense i think you will find the "coverages" are just adjustments off of their base look--they have different calls that allow them to make adjustments) from certain base/basic fronts.

example: when they play 2 read they have calls to adjust to different things the offense may do.  to trips they have a number of calls they can make....these may not change the front the front may stay the same......I have s tudied their defense a decent amount, but I am by no means an expert....but I wouldnt agree abut using the word "independent."

I think its in relation to coverage where as a "quarters" or "hard 2" corner has force or his alignment dictates he be close to the box or los.

In the 10 and most youth 46 I see the corners being tied to the front

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

Yes and no... haha I know bad answer

Quarters via miami is other wise known as cover 2 match these days

Match concepts are the defenses way to adjust coverage based in pre snap and during play actions.

Saban does rip/liz match...similiar concepts wtih single high

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

So cover 4 with press corners......  Michigan state specialty.

Quarters is formation specific
vs 1 wr theyre man
Vs 2 wr theyre in a match zone
vs te theyre in hard 2 mostly

Its flexible but involves a lot of teaching

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.
