Morning guys. Experimenting with DW out of I a lot more this year with 8/9 year olds. What have you found to be best TB depth for that age group. Will bereverse pivot habdoffs on power with qB booting backside.
Anytime we use the I formation we vary the depth based on the speed of the backs ... deep enough to get the pullers in front of them ... shallow enough that the backs are right behind the pullers as they hit the hole ... some years we even have the tailback take a jab step or counter step like the I formation teams ... whatever it takes to get the timing right ... but no specific depth works for every player or every team ...

We've been a jab step then downhill team but think that i want to get deeper and drop the jab step.
These little dudes are exhausting lol
Then I suggest you pick a depth at random and start repping the timing ... adjust as you see fit ...

Are you handing off or tossing? Do the QB,s open or reverse piviot ,roll out, or boot? are your qb,s and rb,s about the same speed?

opening playside (though would consider reverse pivot for loser consistency to DTDW), handoff with bootleg action. QBs are about the same speed, RB's of course not.
Starting at 5 and adjusting from there
I like reverse pivot seem s to set counters up better with the timing and pitch for toss sweep and power at times if you need that extra blocker ( qb ) .

In the book "toss" i think it was 6-7yds deep
I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

I do this as well for exactly the same reason, sets up the QB for smoother counter and we have a nice I formation reverse where the QB reverse pivots and takes it like he is running and hands off to WB going the other way. Worked surprisingly well for us, just have to have the WB hesitate or step down as if blocking first, its a bit of a delay.
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Do you boot off of that reverse pivot?
Do you boot off of that reverse pivot?
Yes, when we run I we boot off of reverse pivot and if the end doesn't respect it big yards.

Coach the QB boot can be a big asset also . Although the roll out can freeze some defenders and ads a spark to the passing game and the qb and tb sweep.jmo

Coach Wyatt was hockey stick (boot) of the QB . Although the roll out can freeze some defenders and ads a spark to the passing game and the qb and tb sweep.jmo
I thought hockey stick was rollout to wide playside to expand perimeter, not a backside boot.

You are correct got my coaches mixed up, the boot is still a good addition.
