Toying with going all in offset fb this year, but im concerned with how that will effect trap.

As a sniffer we just have them jab step to get behind the bsg. Would you just have them pause since they are basically already in position? Or do you move them back to sniffer for trap?

Also while offsetting what motions do you like to use with trap ie offset left with lwb motion or rwb?

Thoughts?

If he's offset to the BSG, just have him go on his path and hug the down blocks.  It times up beautifully without any fancy footwork or even a jab step.  You don't want him paused because that will slow the play down and ruin the quick hitting nature of it.

So is fb head in the b gap?
Or is he sniffing the bsg?
Whats typical alignment and depth?

--Yes.

Or do you move them back to sniffer for trap?

--Or have them off-set to the play-side, jab step to the backside, take the hand-off and follow the trap block.

Also while offsetting what motions do you like to use with trap ie offset left with lwb motion or rwb?

--Toss motion, which makes Trap work like Counter.  Or what we call opposite motion, where we motion a Wing towards the sidelines.

I like the offset, and it "can" be a "tell" i think the pros out weigh the cons.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

I hope it’s a tell.  That’s what Counter is for.

Dave,
On counter do you have the fb jab step like its power to give the bsg time to clear?

How deep do you align the fb behind the guard?

--I'm assuming you're talking about Wingback Counter.  No, we don't jab-step.  If we did, we'd just line up the Fullback directly behind the QB.  That's what I like about offsetting the Fullback; no jab-step needed.  We're not big on giving people "time to clear."  We want to go as fast as possible, like we're shot out of a cannon.  We race.  I want to see who's going to get there first.  Who's getting off the LOS first, who's pulling out of the backfield first,...we're not into having players slow down for anyone.

How deep do you align the fb behind the guard?

--Fullback must be able to tag the Quarterback's hip.

Here's us at East Wake High School scoring 58 points in one game with an off-set Fullback.  Tell me if you think it's a "tell."

Agreed
I think the main reason that it wasn't a tell, was that we made sure to run a bunch of plays to the to the opposite side of the off set fullback.  Rocket/lazer sweep, FB counter, Trap.
If you can get Rocket/Lazer sweep  going, it opens up an entire series that pretty much eliminates any offset fb tells.
