In the MMI 5-3 Defensive Manual that can be found on this site, a few pass coverage calls require the Sam and Will to take HCC responsibility? What exactly does HCC responsibility mean?

There's a 5-3 manual in here somewhere? Is that something BMJ posted?

thank you. Material on the 5-3 is hard to find which I find strange since so many youth teams run a 5-3.

Many youth teams arent running a defense- they are in an alignment
HUGE difference

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.Winston Churchill

When it comes to actually running your defense, specifically at the youth level, how many plays, coverages, and/or stunts would you recommend running?

We run 2 coverages generally and blitzes/stunts are scouting specific. Generally we do not btlitz much unless we can find something we really like. We like to keep it aggressive but very simple. Too much thinking kills a defense.

i'm thinking of running three variations of the 5-3 (1 base, 1 to cover spread, and 1 for short yardage or goal line) with 2 coverages for each. I think I will keep it simple when it comes to stunts and blitzing also.
