That's 17 turnovers in 7 games, or 2.4 per game.

We've definitely been on the good side of the turn over battle this year. This weekend was our first forced fumble that we didnt recover and you could see how pissed my boys were about it. Whoever said "whose ball" doesnt have value with varsity kids has lost their mind.

The 14 sacks for 90 yards lost helped a lot this year as well. This is year 2 of "we dont play defense, we attack" and it's worked so far. We had one blowout loss to a veer team when nobody on D wanted to play disciplined and do their jobs. Our other loss came in a 2 point game that was so poorly officiated thalf the crew lost their state certification afterwards and were permanently banned by the conference.

Proud as hell of the way they have stepped up considering where the program was when I joined last year. They didnt win a single game in 2015 or 2016. I won't by any means say that I'm a good coach but they buy in to the system because they know I will do everything in my power to put them in a position to succeed.

I owe a ton to you coaches who have freely given your knowledge to us newer guys. I was so very lost a mere 6 years ago when I started coaching youth because they didnt have enough volunteers for our local league. 4 years of really shitty records but focusing on the future and investing in my kids have me a shot to earn a few bucks and change around a program. I lurk here so often that unread posts is my homepage.

Getting buy-in is huge.  So many threads here about "how to get it" and asking "why we don't have it."  It is a culture and it can be cultivated.  Buy-in speaks volumes about the job you're doing with your players.
