I’ll keep this short and sweet.

2 scrimmages in the first 5 days of practice, 3 scrimmages in the first 8 days and somehow over the 4 week preseason this Pop Warner Conference can’t find us a game in week 1. How someone figured waiting u til 2 days before our first Sunday of the season was the right time to do this should be removed.

It’s just baffling that a entire conference can be so poorly run when an organization is doing everything to make their job easier. Really I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I know this isn’t a just my area type of problem. But still, it’s sad that in the spotlight football is currently in, people that should be spearheading this sport are only hurting it further.

Use that time to go scout opponents.

You get another week to polish up some things, as well as scout your Week 2 opponent.  Life is good.

I think this is where my frustration lies and I should have lead with this. We don’t actually have a season schedule. That’s why the last minute decision was so frustrating. But we’ll make the most of it.

You're right to be frustrated!!

I'm in the same boat. We were supposed to get our schedules today. However, the rec center cancelled practices this week because of the hurricane. We don't know whether we're playing this Saturday in the originally scheduled Jamboree or not. We also don't know if they'll expand the season or whether we'll have a few weeks of playing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday like we had to do last year.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm spending all weekend to sort out depth charts and figure out my rotations (only 14 kids).

Take out your frustrations against the next opponent 😉

Everyone hates bye weeks. I love em. Like DP and them said it gives you such a leg up on your opponents.

I used to love having a by-week...but it was on the schedule...it wasn't something that just popped up during the week.

That was my world for 9 of the first 10 years I coached, since we were an extra/"2" team.  Most of the time we were waiting until the last minute to figure out where we were playing, since a lot of programs weren't sure about their extra teams until that last week before weigh in (or even the day of weigh-in).

Hey John, long time no B-Dubs.

Yeah I’ve been 2 for the last 3 years and it’s always the same ole song and dance. We finally found out who were playing for our first game yesterday. Best part is after we scheduled our bus, the league went and changed the time of the game to an hour later. That I’m okay with since we’ll use that time to walk and talk out any questions with the kids before the game. If your interested, we can grab lunch sometime and I’ll tell you all about Brookline JP.
