Wow....very cool
What is beautiful, lives forever.
Man…that’s really cool.
Watched the movie. Nice feel good story. Plenty of Michael mentions.
Shocking how brutal life is for kids growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in Chicago. Difficult to comprehend but this movie certainly goes into that.
What is beautiful, lives forever.
Mike, I watched it too. And there's also a book:
As you said, plenty of Michael mentions. Good movie. I wish I'd known to talk more about this with Michael.

Yes...all the time I spent with him on the phone he never mentioned any of this.
What is beautiful, lives forever.
Wow. I was just sitting at my work desk thinking about Michael and laughing about some of our times together. So I came here and saw this thread.
I miss him. He moved out by me and coached with me for a year back when. Parents were mean to him and he ghosted me after a time. Never found out why. I found out he died here.
He was obsessed with learning everything about Oline. He even went to the C.O.O.L. clinics which was mainly college coaches and really huge guys. He was a small man.
One of his favorite comments in response to a comment about Olinemen being less athletic than other positions, "That's okay, our jobs are different. I can't play guitar like Eddie Van Halen, but I bet I can disrupt his guitar playing."
He had a lot of funny sayings like that. You guys know.
You never know when a friend is going to pass suddenly. Been to 6 funerals in last 12 months or so. 4 were people under 50 one was just 26, we aren't promised tomorrow - in these bodies anyway.
Always a lot easier (for me) when I know they were believers.
Hope everyone is doing well. Good to see a bunch of old names on here. Carry on. Love ya.

He did the same with me. No idea why. Oh well...
Miss him, though. Brilliant mind.

Michael was very much into learning and adapting. Some of my last conversations he talked about how he felt about this board and some of the people on it (not specifically).
When you're a great coaching mind like he was sometimes he felt like he exhausted the potential for learning and talking about topics with certain people. Myself included. Our talks became less about football and more about people and oddly enough his experiments on his own body through physical training, which in part he would've found to be very effective and non conventional.
I miss my friend and long talks about football and various other coaches and teachers he had spoken about. In person though is an experience I would never forget. He looked like the Fonz, and damn near talked his way into taking two young ladies from the "luv sac" store into going out with him.
I was never able to obtain his "binder". This binder would be worth it's weight in diamonds to coaches, a complete organized account of everything he knew and learned about coaching and specifically oline.
Not surprised Ihop isn't doing well financially since his passing :).
I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.
