We are allowed 12 non contact practice sessions in July. Lots of restrictions. Lots of paperwork. Lots of procedures.

We are going to do 6 towards the end of the month. It will be my testing ground to see how things roll. As the HC...I am taking the biggest risk. If I do not feel comfortable with the process...Im out.

Currently I am a being asked to be a Doctor, Nurse, Nutritionist, Babysitter, Therapist, Police Officer, Coach.....Coach being dead last on the list.

Greetings

Last night was the 1st night of the combine...   after strong early sign-ups the numbers dropped off quickly.

Our Sr. League (5th & 6th) is adding a team - numbers are up in that age group.

Jr. League (my age group 3rd & 4th) - numbers down slightly.   [lot of kids who were expected to move up this yr from PeeWee haven't]

Pee Wee's (2nd grade and under) - numbers are way down.

The consensus guess is the younger the kids are, the more willing parents are skip a season and let the Covid thing pass before they start back up.   But the losses seem to be off-set by the large number of new faces over-all, it seems we're benefiting from kids being cooped up too long and parents looking for some relief from the kids being underfoot.

We may yet pick up a few stragglers before the combine ends...  happens every yr, but this might be the exception.  Kids who miss the combine get drawn out of a hat.

Socialism Abounds! Jails released thousands of Non Violent criminals (many rearrested shortly afterwords). Now THE HAMMER OF JUSTICE comes down upon us.

Engelwood Colorado is now Threatening fines of 2600.00 and a Year In Jail for not wearing a mask!

First violation is $15. Subsequent violations are $25. If you want to go to Court over the ticket you could face a fine up to $2600 and a year in jail. Its still BS.

If any person associated with a team tests positive for COVID...that team shuts down for 14 days and then tests.

The Over/Under on how many games we play this season is now 5. 11 are required to participate in the Championship.

I spoke to the other 4th grade Coach in my Org who are the 2 time defending Champs. He thinks we will just play Regular Season Games and no playoffs. The Standing are going to be a mess and totally hit and miss. Some teams might get in 7-8 games....others maybe 3-4.

I see some teams with low numbers folding entirely.

I also see a lot of cheating going on since the Headers are the ones taking temps and asking questions even on game day.

@mahonz  The Great State Of Decay (Called Illinois) has walked back earlier releases.  Given the fact that some College teams are cancelling most, if not all of their seasons, and IL has no said No Contact and Everyone Must Wear Masks I find it impossible to play the sport.

Wonder how many of these Universites will remain solvent with no real revenue.  Wonder how many of these Marxist Liberal Professors will have Jobs.  No I dont!

Have a Nice Day  🙂

Starting to sound like our season is over before it starts.  Many factors involved mostly Governing Bodies keep changing direction.

So over this.

Governor here has kicked the can down to each County as far as HS Sports. If HS is a go....youth is a go. . They meet next week to assess how the summer sessions have gone. Little league Baseball, LAX and sokker is in full swing.

Lose/lose situation. Impose restrictions and he is a dictator. Let everyone do their own thing and he is irresponsibly endangering the people. No leader/politician is getting out of this unscathed.

Virginia schools are going to have no football season or a spring football season.  They are voting for 1 of the following three proposals:

The three models presented to the Executive Committee for the opening of sports/activities are as follows:

Model 1 – Leave all sports in current season. Low and moderate contact risks sports that would be allowed to play are golf and cross country. High risk sports that would not be played are field hockey, football, volleyball, and cheer. Fall activities that would be allowed is theatre.

Model 2 – Switch Fall and Spring seasons. Low and moderate contact risk sports that would be allowed to play in the fall are track and field, tennis, soccer, baseball, and softball. High risk sports that would not be played are boys/girls lacrosse. Spring activities that would be allowed are theatre, forensics/debate, and film festival

Model 3 – Delay all VHSL sports and adopt the Condensed Interscholastic Plan. Leave all sports in the season where they are currently aligned.

Season 1 (Winter) December 14 – February 20 (First Contest Date – December 28)
Season 2 (Fall) February 15 – May 1 (First Contest Date – March 1)
Season 3 (Spring) April 12 – June 26 (First Contest Date – April 26)

I have contacted a couple youth leagues about coaching positions.  Hopefully I can get on a team somewhere.

I think the season will be called. College and NFL will happen, but high school is probably 3-5 games and then done. I think schools will either close again or they'll at least stop sports. The sort of guidelines that they're asking of schools are impossible. They want desks to be 6 feet apart. Right. They couldn't afford less than 40 kids in a classroom beforehand, and now they want that? There's no way. Likewise if one kid on your team gets it, your whole team will probably get it. Whole teams will be out for games, even if no one dies, and then nobody is going to want to play those teams even when they recover. Once that happens to one team, and that one team plays another team, and that other team starts showing symptoms, it's over.

I've been interviewing at places, and whole offices are empty. Why would you want your kid to go somewhere to play football and catch covid? I'm sure they don't want their kids at home, but when it comes down to it, they don't want them catching covid either, especially since that means the parents will catch it too.

@coach-kyle

I sure as hell don't have any answers, but Denver Public Schools is considering delaying the start of classes by a week, then phasing kids back in stages. If August 17 is too early and August 24 is okay, then I have REALLY misjudged this whole "situation" we find ourselves in.
