Gents

Steve and Chris have decided to no longer maintain the Forum past Thanksgiving.

If anyone is interested in taking over please email Chris Dearing at his Gmail (dearing)

It would cost $4K for a new 3 year hosting contract. Chris thinks a new customer could negotiate that down. This being if you dont move the Site to a new host. Moving the Site is a pain and more money.

If no one takes over Steve will be purchasing the domain name. Steve has started a Coaches Forum on FB if you would like to join.

Its called Coaching Youth Football with Coach Parker if interested.

Dumcoach also has a FB Page but no one manages it so it has no direction.

Im thinking we all need to share personal contact info rather soon if you have not already so we can all keep in touch. I will start a Contact Thread if it comes to that. Its been a great run....22 years...1000's of coaches. I will forever miss this place and all of you but video killed the radio star...so to speak. 😢

Facepage and social media apps are a poor way to communicate the in's & out's of football.  Video can be linked here, just as easily as it can on Facepage, but trying to communicate specifics in a way that won't allow correct paragraph structure, indentation, etc. or even who you're replying to just leads to more confusion.  Oh well...

Anyhoos, it's been fun fellas.  I've been on this thing since it started 20-some years ago, but hey there's only seven of us still on here anyway. lol

I'll admin the DumCoach FB page if the owner lets me. There are some tricks to managing paragraph structure (using <shift><enter> to set a paragraph break, for instance). I'll even promote it a little to bring more coaches in.

I think i'm already Facebook friends with most of you guys. If not, I'll find you. I really enjoy the discussions on here. I've only been on the Forum for about 3 or 4 years, but I owe you guys a lot. You have all helped me improve as a coach and in many cases, a person in general

@troy Brian Jackson is the guy to reach out to on the Facebook side of things.

As far as the forum goes, $4k is what the renewal would be for 3 years. I'm sure to maintain a customer they would be open to negotiation, maybe down to $2000 or less. My initial outlay was just over $1000 for the 3yrs. More was spent annually for licensing different plug-ins.  The server specs we required at the time are what really pushed up the cost.  The traffic is not as high as it once was (or hoped for), but the disk space used is in the vicinity of 60GB. We could whack some stuff, but that is the good stuff. Perhaps the community is more important than all those old uploads. I think someone could work with the hosting company, InMotionHosting, to move the site to a much cheaper server/plan. As the owner, I can facilitate the move, but I don't want to take it on (again).

I don't check here frequently, so please direct any questions for me to my Gmail account [dearing]. We can then talk via phone from there.

Don't cross my path.

@rpatric

I feel the exact same.  I haven’t been super active, but the amount I’ve learned these last couple of years is truly invaluable.  I’m part of a few FB coaches groups, and I cringe at most things that are said/asked there.

I may be able to move the site with all the attachments since our last move (2019) to a new hosting plan that would only run $300-400 annually. I am looking into that now. I would want to then have someone else versed in WordPress to take over running the site.

Don't cross my path.

lol, Tyler.  I see the dumb questions, then I see the even dumber responses and it's just the blind leading the blind with most "coaches" just looking for someone to pat them on the back and concur that their faults are not their own.

I guess it was inevitable. There aren't many guys using the site anymore. I really only check in because I'm a creature of habit and I have been here for a while. It's been 5 years since I coached youth football. There isn't much from the last 5 years of coaching HS football that is relevant/useful to the group, so I don't contribute much.

My boys were 9 and 10 when I started down this road...those two jackwagons are now off playing college ball. I had the pleasure of coaching them directly or being part of a staff that they were playing for right up until they graduated. In some respects, I lived a dream. When my oldest was a senior and his brother was a junior, one was our starting QB and the other our starting RB. I got to watch it all at field level. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. If I hadn't gleaned all that I did from the coaches on this site, none of that wouldn't have been possible.

Michael, Joe, Tito and DP (all coaches I met from here) made contributions to my coaching career that I will forever be grateful for. If it weren't for Joe (MHCoach) I might not have made it through my first season of HS coaching. This deal has given WAY more to me than I ever did to it.

Huge thanks to all of you that have kept this thing alive as long as you have.

Josh

I echo the comments above. I joined the site in 2019 because I wanted to "level up" from a second place finish. I've learned so much from everyone out here and do my best to share the knowledge I've gained. I wish there was a way to adequately express how grateful I am to have learned from all of you.

I've seen many of you on Facebook and hope that everyone will keep in touch (am happy to share my contact info if anyone wants it). After all, someone has to finish in last place in the Dumcoach Fantasy Football league!!

Thank you again for everything!

Facepage and social media apps are a poor way to communicate the in's & out's of football.

Facebook it is called facebook Dave and social media are poor ways to communicate the in's and outs of football.  In and outs are clearly marked on the field so I don't know what the problem is.

Video can be linked here, just as easily as it can on Facepage, but trying to communicate specifics in a way that won't allow correct paragraph structure, indentation, etc. or even who you're replying to just leads to more confusion.

Not sure what your trying to say here.  Break it down to a step so we can help you.  Now I am confused by what is leading you to confusion.

 Oh well...

Anyhoos isn't a word a hardened warrior coach uses.  C'mon man!

Just wanted to do that one time before the moment is gone. 👍

I have just started helping coach my sons 6 yo football team.  I would love to purchase the Killer Bee/DC46 Defensive systems (videos/manuals/powerpoints) and the same for DC Wing T System.  I have read a lot of the posts and they all sound like great materials for a guy just starting coaching.  Do you guys no if they are still for sale?  If not is there anything comparable for sale?  I hate to hear that the site is going down and wish I would have got here sooner.
