Maybe this is why they are 109 wins and counting and why they always seem to attract the great players.

Watch the video at the end.

you cannot discipline kids like that. That is cruel and mean. Everybody should play (I am kidding). You can hear the howling from soccer dads and moms. The first one we will hear on this board will go something along the lines of "that is d-1 athletics, not youth ball!"

He takes a knife and stabs some people in the heart in that video.

He's passionate about it. The ones that need to hear it will say, "That's not my kid."

I showed my 10 yo. First thing he said was that he knew kids who acted like that.

It reminds me a bit of this:

"Don't be humble... you're not that great."

I took it strictly as an attack on coaching. Maybe I should say a challenge to coaches/adults. I am one of those coaches he is talking to.

I thought more this than the other.  We can all do a better job-parents/coaches of raising/influencing kids.

I just showed the attachment that Michael posted from De La Salle to one of my coaches (he loved it) - Leadership criteria they use to pick a captain.  I need to do a better job of having all our coaches on the same page for consistency through out the year for things like this.

Another reminder of where the standard should be for the kids and in turn for me. I may have that backwards, but the point is clear.

The bench looks pretty excited right here (they were up by 31 after the basket):

She walked on when Breanna Stewart sent out a tweet asking current students to try out.

I've known/know a few kids like that.  One of the worse was...

Knew the kid since flag football.  Good kid, good skills.  Over the years, had him on my teams, dad helped coach.  Kid was developing into a good QB and linebacker.

I stayed back one year and dad moved up and took a team himself.  The next year, I went up and helped.  It was ALL about this kid.  Once during a game, at halftime as we went to talk to our team, this kid looked at me and asked if they had been calling his name on the loudspeaker.  I didn't know, I'm not tuned that way.  Heck, I even don't know when they call my kid's name on the speaker.

Later in the season, during a practice, his dad asks me if I thought his son had the chance to be the starting varsity QB one day.  Remind you at the time, the kid was 13 years old.  Reality is, he probably could be the best QB our schools ever seen.

This year, on the JV team, he wasn't named the starter so the father had his son quit and made plans to sell his house and move to another school district.  I hope them the best, but he has got to learn this is a team sport.  10 years from now, this guy will probably still be talking about how great he was in rec ball.
