Mike

You may be right

I was shocked Trump won the nomination- more shocked that he won the general election

Many Americans like myself were fed up with the status quo, the political class, the media and "elites" talking down to those who built and defended this country. Many were sick and tired of being called things they were not and identity politics. I can see how someone would be so fed up, that they would vote for someone like Trump> I couldnt do it- of course I wouldnt vote for Hillary or Crazy Bernie either.

I KNOW there are many closet trump people out there and others like me who are so fed up with the media and propagandists, that they might even step in- hold their noses and vote for the guy. The hatred hollywood and the press have for trump, plays right into his hands. Their bias and hatred was always there- now it's just out in the open for all to see.

trump has exposed lots of corruption in our bureaucracy, that we all hoped didnt exist- it does.
Always been for term limits- always will
You are right, it will be very interesting next go around. Trump has the deck stacked against him- lots of Americans like guys like that- you never know.

So back to Urban. Am I right when I heard his ac say that he had talks with Meyer in 2015 but Meyer denies the talks happen? I didn't hear the whole thing as I was in and out of the room. This scumbag (the ac scumbag that is) repeatedly said he didn't hit her so there was no abuse but their is a text of him apologizing for strangling her? Strangling isn't abuse? If what I thought I heard is actually what I heard Meyer is done.

The AP story is this:
Urban reported the AC to his superior in 2015 -- also named Smith
Smith talked directly to the AC and decided to do nothing since there were no police charges from the 2015 incident

So Meyer may be in the clear
He reported the incident to his superior
There were no charges so it was a he said she said thing

If the guy is guilty- string him up- absolutely- coward
Probably need a few more details to do so

At this point the only thing Meyer is guilty of is lying to the press about an unproven allegation
That may be enough to get Meyer out, might not be- probably not if that is all there is

At the end of the day, hopefully the truth comes out and the right decision can be made- whichever it may be

Dave,
Trump did not win the general election. He won the electoral college.

How do you figure Trump doesn't fit into the "elite"?

He also kept a guy on staff who they knew apparently beat his wife.  While employing him may not have been illegal, that's going to be a rough go during recruiting.

Political Elite
Media Elite
Academia Elite

IMO trump has always been an outsider with money- not one of the old money, political family, " in"  guys

Trump was elected president- at the end of the day he won the election- semantics

FWIW I laughed when he announced he was running- thought there was no way
Not sure how a guy like Ross Perot cant get elected but trump did- blows me away

Jesus.

The electoral college vote and the popular vote are both part of the general election for president.

It's "general election" as opposed to "primary election," not "general election" as opposed to "electoral college vote."

Can we please limit the stupidity on this thread to issues related to Urban Meyer?  There seems to be plenty there already.

Maybe we can get Harbaugh to chime in.  I have a feeling he may be following the story.

The more the trump haters focus on this- the path to his election becomes FAR EASIER:
Impeachment
Trumps "dimensia"
Russian Collusion
Electoral College
Porn Star payoffs and the like
Trump benefiting from his office $$
trumps golf vacations
trumps distaste for the mainstream media

the only people that care about that stuff are the ones who would never ever ever ever vote for a republican no matter who it was

I ask that in all seriousness. Are recruits from this class decomitting? Did they care about all the nonsense at UF when he had a murderer on his roster? I don't think it will make one bit of difference unless they think he might get fired. If his job is secure I think OSU lands a top 4 class. I bet they do for the next couple of years with Meyer running the show.

I just think all the character stuff gets to be a really, really tough sell.  Especially with mom on the home visit, if another coach has been through earlier, or if she has the internet.

Are they going to start losing recruits to Purdue?  I doubt it.  But I think they're going to get hurt going up against Alabama and Michigan.

Most of those I don't care about. I want Mueller to finish his investigation. Until then I will wait and see. Nothing impeachable yet but if a conspiracy case is there I hope Congress has the fortitude to pursue it. I doubt they do. I also doubt Mueller will be able to prove much of anything. Hard to say as his camp is extremely tight lipped. The Dems shoot themselves in the foot all the time as far as concentrating on the wrong things, that is for sure.

Where is a good 3rd party candidate when you need one? Maybe the Dems will put up someone who isn't hated by half the country. Maybe they won't nominate a radical socialist. Maybe somebody within the Republican party will run against Trump for the nomination. I would love any of those scenarios but I doubt anything other than a total shit show come about.

Interesting perspective. I completely disagree. I find Trump to be utterly repulsive. Strange that you feel he is for the people because he doesn't care about appearances. Not sure how that makes sense. I mean, for you to care about the people you can't care about  appearances? What?

Funny how he has problems with Congress serving long term but thinks being president for life sounds like something we should try. His words, not mine.

As far as him criticizing a veteran, if you didn't serve shut the hell up. He mocks gold star families and that's ok because they are immigrants? Everything I have read of McCain's time as a pow lead me to believe he acted heroically. Did Trump have the patriotism to serve? The bravery to serve? Does he have any of the qualities that show that he could serve? Not that I can see.

I erased the rest of my response. I just don't want to argue about the virtues of Trump. This is not the place.

Its all good Rob....we are among friends here.

My Grandfather was a politician. He taught us all to vote Party Lines because of the ebbs and flows of the parties themselves. I have voted Party lines since 1980. When Trump got into the race I found it laughable. Then I watched him start mocking the system and those that are a part of the system. This was new. This was way overdue but I still gave him no chance.

Well....here we are.

I find Trump hilarious...and refreshing. Generally listening too politicians is like watching paint dry. Trump speaks his mind....just like you and I. Right or wrong....agree or disagree...there is no filter. Therefore he is for the people. All others are for getting re-elected.

Sure he has stubbed his toe plenty and will continue to do so. So what. Too many good things happening that will forever outweigh his hiccups. Besides...his hiccups is what is absolutely destroying the system.

Diss on your own Agencies in Helsinki and get run through the mud and the very next week you are successfully negotiating new tariffs with the EU creating a rocket ship jump in the stock market. The guy just cant lose right now.

And please speak freely. This country needs more of that.

What is beautiful, lives forever.

I would prefer they lose them to FSU. Looking into the FSU recruiting after the whole Winston fiasco you don't see a major drop off except for last year but that is because the staff had stopped recruiting. The TAMU deal was in the bag early last season if not preseason. Anyway, that is why I think it won't matter. People have short memories and recruiters are great salesmen.
