The popular DVD I made Coach "Big B" in which I train a running back in just 19 minutes during a break at a clinic to use the jump cut, spin, and stiff arm moves has been added to my "Run Form" training DVD in which I train the slower half of the kids on a team how to speed up their times to run with the top half. One of the kids whose run form I corrected I then let challenge the second fastest kid in his entire league to a race (The race is on the film) and the kid I trained to run during the break (He actualy played QB) would go on to rip off a 90 yard run in his first or second game. His dad posted the run here.

I use the training techniques shown in order to produce a fast result in a limited time. I have minutes to accomplish this in (The typical youth player gets, on average, 2.5 minutes of individual coaching time in a season.). My league gives me three nights of "no pads" week and, on one of those three nights, I run form train those kids that need it. The DVD shows how to spot their problems and how to correct. Of kids who have a problem with their form, I can usually reduce their 27 yard dash times by .3 to 1.0 seconds. For a one night investment, this is a pretty good return and is very helpful if any of these kids later play defense. The only equipment I use is a rope.
The three moves I teach the running back are moves I let my DCWT HB use but almost any offense can use them (They were the top three moves used by NFL backs of Walter Peyton's era). The only equipment I use is two cones. Again, time is the critical factor. I'm going to give this boy 19 minutes of my time and then I'm back with the rest of the team. It happens so fast that one assistant here who talked his HC into buying it never even saw it installed but saw the result when a kid with zero TD's had six in his next two games as a receiver.
Coaches who have one or both films should feel free to comment on it below.

This is a clip of the boy Clark trained at the clinic. First game of the season. Watch at the 3 second mark how he switches the ball from left arm to right arm as he changes direction.
It worked wonders for this RB. Its a simple drill that works. They learn to safely transfer the ball and juke at the same time.
I think its a very good way to improve your running game, no matter how good you are doing, this will make your backs better.

Nice switch of the ball at the 3 sec mark.

I'm helping put on a pre-season speed camp twice a week and I've been teaching the jump cut and spin move at my station while groups of kids rotate through. Its only been two days but the progress they are making is undeniable. Combining this stuff with traditional agility drills like ladders and hurdles is going to pay off big time in August for the kids that show up.
Thanks again Clark.
