Starting this thread to inquire if anyone has a Pettine-era CB West playbook they'd be willing to share. Very interested in the formations, motions, shifts they utilized and how everything was communicated. I've got some film on them (can post if people are interested), and it's always intrigued me how they run a few plays (pitch, lead, dive, trap, draw, sprint outs, pap's) but seems like a million looks with everything they presented. Any help is appreciated!

I LOVE THE CB WEST STUFF!!!!!! If you go to Coach Calande's war room theres a couple threads and highlight films on that era and like this place has great info and details on Pettine Sr system. His offense was punch in the mouth for real down right nasty stuff and very multiple the more i studied it it was clear there is a lot of I and WT principles he blended wonderfully.

Here are cut ups I made with the film from 98-99 I was able to get my hands on:

98 CB West-New Castle - (

)
99 CB West-Bethlehem Catholic - (

)
99 CB West-Erie Prep - (

)

Also have a game from 2000, CB West-Bethlehem Catholic from when Mike Carey was coaching, a very interesting watch as well. (

)
During the 2000 game vs. Erie Prep, the commentary team was told by their coach Mike Mischler that he saw something like 55 different sets from CBW when scouting them on tape. Crazy!
Have got some other games, just haven't been able to cut them.

I do not, but I did see them play in 1988 during their 55-game unbeaten streak.  They weren't bad.

The only line Coach and def coordinater from pettine Sr days coaches with rich kelly.  The cb west plays are pretty much short t  with power formations. I spoke with Sr once my team played his grandsons team. Very nice guy and loves football.

As far as a literal playbook there isn't one on pdf...they were hand written and drawn and returned every season.

There's enough you tube film you can get an idea.

They man block for one no doubles..my they also block fronts so no rules, acronyms, covered/under covered.  It would be vs this front we block it this way.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

Pettine sr...playbook...thats funny

I played against piccotti and that juggernaut of a program.

I coached against jr later on

There are no playbooks...

Now, if you find rich kelly on this board or outside of since a bunch off toolbags pissed  him off,  he coached with Carrey at Arch Bishop Wood and works with piccotti now or dustin works with him.  Carrey was the asst head coach/ DC.

Cb West ran T based everything even when in the I form. They played with a lot of forward lean.  Mainly split T with variance in power T.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

They had a play called "gash" or something.

Heavy right set
G scheme
With 2 backs leading... that hurt

Pettine and his desciples thought of offense very simplistically.

We wanna be fast off the ball and put more blockers then you have defenders at poa. Very dw in philosophy.

Very rare to see an even set, they came off so fast like de la salle with a rolling cadence.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

Thank you for your reply, appreciate it! I did your previous post that there are no playbooks. Just sharing the videos. Although I did find some lecture notes from his sprint out pass game. Have an older manual with some notes from Pettine Jr too about Play Packaging at the LOS

Bump - anybody been able to get a playbook? I haven’t had any luck connecting with anyone. Was hoping someone may have a contact or way to network. I was in touch with Rich Kelly a couple years ago - he had one he let someone borrow it but never got it back, and wasn’t something he needed/used but he tried to track it down. But he left the Hueyforums couple years ago and haven’t been able to connect via email. Saw on Facebook a photo of a handwritten play sheet that looked very comprehensive and would love a playbook to compliment/help understand more of the scheme. Unsuccessful trying to get in touch with that person as well. Any help is appreciated!
