Our league rules mandate that every player has to either start on offense or defense and play 50% of the game (they can switch at halftime).  I generally have around 18 players on my roster, which means a couple of studs start both ways, and a couple of others start on defense and share an offensive position.  I try to keep O-line only playing offense.  But, our league has a quirky "shuttle players" rule, which allows teams to satisfy the starting requirements by letting 2 players share an offensive or defensive starting position by rotating in and of the game after every play.  Teams can have one "shuttle player position" on both offense and defense each game, which means these players only play 25% of the game.  I have never liked this rule, and don't implement on my teams.  I wouldn't like if my kid and another kid only played 25% of the game while everyone else was mandated by rule to play 50%.  The only two other teams that are competitive with my team use this rule when playing us to keep their studs on the field for more plays, and their weaker players of the field.  I refuse to do this, and attempt to turn the tables on them by going no huddle on offense and catching them with 12 players on the field when they are trying to switch out 2 MPR DLs on defense.

The Bronx Warriors had that rule, but if you used it, those players had to shuttle for the entire game, so it was an equivalent for playing offense or defense the entire first half.
