Pistol Coaches...do you run your halfback counters behind the QB or in front? It seems to me the defense would overcommit to the wrong side more if the HB went in front of the QB...as long as the line could hold the initial push from the dline.

Your 35 gap and 45 counter are much better plays for your age group.

JMHO Coach. I hit em with 16 blast and power, 26 blast and power, 28 stretch. 35 gap and 45 counter are money. To answer your question i have him pass under.

Set it up with ,stretch or jet,counter crossing undernieth is money.Should have at least 3+ men advantage when called.

Thanks coaches. Your advice, which I agree with is contrary to what the university of CO offensive coach told me when I asked him at the Denver glazier clinic. He said to go behind vice under. I plan to try it when practice starts by going under as you stated. I definitely like the setup plays as well.

Cool and thanks.....PM Texan....he is a Hawk / 8th graders....Gumby....he is a Spartan / 7th graders.....COCoachKC....used to be the Prez of the Panthers....now with 6th Graders...TroyTolbert....he is a Spartan / 4th graders.....Lionscoach....cant remember what age group or League.....303Coach....he is with Arvada....3rd graders and 7th graders....and a few others that I cant think of right now.

It would seem to me you could do both, although this is just playing with it in my mind.  An underneath counter that hits in the B-C gap and a counter behind that is more of a reverse type play that is meant to go wide.

I agree CoachAD...my thought is the defense may over react more if it goes in front of the QB...but both ways should work.

That's the same reason I like a counter trap 1 or 2 hole. (A gaps) I just feel that extra step or two really sells the action.

We ran our counters in front of QB. It was easier for us.
