Hopefully i wont have to use it often.  But i've been looking at doing a spread punt formaition.  I'd keep 4 lineman in the box, so i can still run 2 trap.  Have 1 punter @ 6 yards.  Everyone else would he split out wide.  Some off.  Some on.  Still working out the details... If the D- doesn't honor the passing options, then we throw the ball.  If they guard everyone, then our punter goes back 3 more yards & punts away.

Any of you ever do this or something similar?  Anything you can pass along that works or doesn't work?

Wouldn't it prevent the defense from putting someone back to recieve?  My initial thought, is i'd have to stay in my base defense if someone did this to me.  Thus eliminating the dreaded "kick it to the other teams best player" scenario...

It's all about having fun.  But losing aint fun!

Spread punt but you want some A-11 aspects... RED LIGHT ... You are basically teaching a second offense just to punt... GREEN LIGHT spread punts works great at youth they surround the punt returner much faster

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

How can they possible put a returner back if i'm in shotgun & a spread formation?  You would put a PR back against that look?  Wouldn't you have to assume i'm going for it?  And if i'm in spread & you put a PR back, that means i have you outnumbered everytime, whether it's trap or pass right?

Wing you are correct. We punt out of  2x2 just put the punter at 12 yards back and move the A to split the Guards inside foot. We did not punt hardly at all. We also did not have a return guy even attempt to field a punt on us all season.

Thats what i figured.  I'm not looking to add a whole new offense.  Just a more effective way to punt when we have to.  I HATE punting to some kid that just rips us apart, because we usually don't have a lot of team speed.

Figure w/ this, we'll probably burn a timeout for them & never allow returns.  We can actually run almost our entire offense out of spread, so when we do fake, not a lot of install to put in.  Trap, Jet & probably 2 pass combos.

5-6 yd splits...

If you play 2x2 vs me you get two deep safety ...

Check out DC punt its much better

So you run dcwt, but for punt youre going 2x2 spread with "X" amount of plays... But youre not putting in a whole new offense? My bad i must be making some sence

We punt from our 2x2 spread look. We can run anything in our offense from that look, so teams mostly play defense and drop one guy back. We run a no huddle so "punt" is just one of our calls like any other play.

When i chose my profile, i could only choose a DC WING T.  I'm a WING T coach.  I don't run the DC version.

I'm thinking something more like this...

You going to put 2 deep against this?

Are you playing defense with 2 safeties or in Punt Return with two safeties? I think the goal is to make you play defense.

For some reason it's not showing the formation how i drew it up.  But i want 6 out wide.  4 Down lineman & the punter....

I havent done it yet so i don't know what i'm gonna see.  But 2 X 2 i could still put someone deep... W/ 6 wide, i could not.  That is the plan.
