Do you find it is easier to get the ball set and kicked off a tee or directly off the grass at the youth level?

It is marginally easier to set the ball on grass as opposed to having to find and hit the correct spot on the tee.  However, it is 1000% easier to kick off a tee than off the ground.  The benefits of the tee far outweigh the negatives.  For most youth kickers, they would have zero chance of making even a PAT off the ground, but can do it easily off a tee.  This is a no brainer - if you're allowed to use a tee, use it.

Thank you, sir!

Similar to my philosophy of using tees in golf.  If they allow you the opportunity to use a tee legally, take advantage of it.

Thanks.  I've never been a kicker or holder or snapper.  This is the first season we will be allowed to kick.  So it is all new to me.  Appreciate the feedback!

We had a really good kicker back in 2009. Soccer kid who helped us out in aspects other than kicking. Anyway, because he was so good and needed almost no coaching(this kid was accutate to about 75-80% with pat I believe) we experimented around some without a tee. It did not go well. He could still make them but at a much lower rate. A problem that showed up is the placement of the ball would be all over the place. The tee works as a nice target for the holder to place the ball. Our conclusion was that a tee was easily better. Plus, the field goal record in college(with tee) is farther than pro(without tee) I believe by about 5 yards.

As Doug pointed out, it's slightly harder for the holder to place the ball on the block than on bare ground, but so what?  That's not the object.  If you let him place it someplace other than where the kicker's expecting it, that makes the kicker's job harder.  So think of the tee as not only for elevating the ball to get under it better, but also as a good visual for the kicker.
