For the last year or so my Son and his wife have contemplated moving to Wisconsin. Her family is from there and they go on vacation to the Dells every June. He landed a great job in his field about a month ago and starts June 8th and will toggle back and fourth over the Summer getting things in order.

So they are packing up the kids and moving by August 1 after my Grand Daughters softball season ends and my Daughter In Law's work contract expires. I may not get out of bed for a month thereafter.  🙁 My kids are my best friends and we have all run our Family business together for the last 10 years. My Son and his wife are looking for a lifestyle change away from the big city and have a lot of Family support in Wisconsin.

He resigned as the HC of our youth football team this evening. Our Org's FB Director we have known for about 10 years. He was crushed. Said the nicest thing too him...

The Org is not losing by far their best Coach...the entire League is losing by far their best Coach.

I have coached with a lot of people over the last 30 years and without being too partial....I'd have to agree with him. This kid of mine can flat out coach this game. We have coached together since he got out of College 12 years ago....youth and Semi Pro. We even owned a Semi Pro Team for a couple of years and coached one Season of Pro Indoor Arena together.  Im going to be lost without him....in more ways than one.

I am very happy for them but at the same time ....devastated. They tried to talk me into moving with them. Told em both Im not the least bit interested in living with Polar Bears.  😛  If I ever move again its straight back to the desert.

Just wanted to share the news with my long time Dumcoach Brethren.

Wisconsin isnt that Bad.  I hope nothing for the best for them!  I also feel the anguish and pain of a Dad and Grandpa.  Let me know where they are going and perhaps us old Grand farts can get together for A Bratwurst and a Beer  Ya Hey Dere!

GO PACK GO!  😉

Not MPP... ONE TASK!  Teach them!  🙂

It has to be bittersweet.  On one hand, your son, best friend and grandkids are moving away.  On the other hand, your son has grown into a great guy, father and coach.  Focus on the latter for now.

Visit a lot during the summer and have them visit you in the winter.

Oh, just move already. What is keeping you in Colorado besides the fact that it isn't Wisconsin?

Not being Wisconsin is a damn good reason.

Whereabouts in Wisconsin? I live in Minnesota right on the border. When the wind is from the east, all you can smell is cheese...

Wisconsin is actually a nice place to live.

Lots of open space and nice people and affordable housing.    The pro stadiums are top notch and fun.    Going to a packers or brewers game is about a hundred times easier and more relaxing and comfortable than going to a bears, cubs or sox game (unless you live in wrigleyville).

The college is fun.  Lots of little schools too.    Lots of places to hunt and fish.  Great water parks for the kids.    Easy skiing or snowboarding access.  Lots of places to snowmobile.

Mike,

I'm bummed. I always assumed that the Mahoney clan would always be around. Makes me wish I had come to more of your games and practices.
