Started working with a new program. Pretty cool opportunity at a 6a program. We started after winter break.
Everyone starts at the same baseline. In order to touch free weights you have to pass the prerequisite movements and "challenges".
Pre reqs
- 50, goblet squats with 100lb dumbell/ kettlebell. With out dropping the weight.
- 25 hand release push ups, with out stopping
- 5 pull ups or 30 second static hold
These pre reqs all must be passed before getting in the weight room.
So far, of 30 freshmen; 19 of them passed already inside 2 weeks. Of the sophomore and juniors only 12 passed thus far. With 25/26 still working on pre reqs.
The first day the HC told me they have all these 400lb squatters and I'll be really impressed. None of his "400lb squatters" passed the goblet squat test. They did come close.
Hoping to see 90% of the roster or more pass by February, but these freshman are showing a lot of promise so far.
I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.
I like the Wendler nod to earning the barbell!

I spoke with him at SWIS and it just cemented this for me forever. My favorite part of the conversation was when he said "win the walk off the bus, win the game".
