So I stumbled upon a play the other day that I wasn’t familiar with and I was wondering if anyone is familiar with it and or knows what it’s called? I’ll do my best to describe it.....

It was run out of a traditional wing T formation.  Wing back goes in Jet motion presnap, QB reverse pivots almost 180 degrees to the weak side. WSG & WST blocked down and the wing kicked out the end. The HB took a step toward midline and then ran up underneath the kick from the WB. The FB fakes toss to same side.

The play has some similarities to Belly/Belly Option except instead of the FB getting the ball, it was given to the HB on a straight dive path to the B/C gap under the WB kick.  I would imagine you could also run a keep with the QB and or option with the FB off of this.

Anyways, was just wondering if anyone has seen or knows what this is called?

I don't know, but I'm interested.  I'm especially interested in knowing more about the QB's action.  After he pivots, does he run down the line split T style to meet the diving HB, and then fake the toss?  Or does he fake toss, hold the ball out and meet the HB part way, with the HB slanting toward the hole?

This looks like a play I wanted to suggest to our OC for use from a formation where the WB is already on the HB's side.  We have a HB coiunter like that, but this looks like a counter to the counter.

But, back to the play you describe, I'm trying to imagine how the defense would react, what threats go with it, and whether this play is a useful addition.  Considering who we've had at WB, it probably wouldn't be great for us to have him kicking out a DE, but I could be convinced it might be for some teams.

I think you could create a whole “series” off of Jet sweep and this backfield action. I would imagine you could really put a DE in conflict. He has the threat of the WB in jet motion that he has to honor then you have the HB diving underneath the jet motion AND the QB could either keep and the FB could be a lead block or you could run option with your FB as well.  The only weak side plays we run right now are off of Belly ISO. I love that series but It takes a little bit longer to develop. This seems to hit quickly and really attack the weak side edge.
