We are scheduled to have our first game this Saturday.  Great opportunity to see how rusty and unprepared we are.  We lost two weeks of practice time due to Covid, in addition to rain taking away several other days.  The team we play Saturday was supposed to scrimmage us a week or so back, but backed out for whatever reason.  We're not very good.  We're certainly not prepared, but we do run the Double Wing so that in itself should give us a huge advantage.  We'll see...

Won 49-0.  Score was 27-0 at the half.  Scored on every possession.  Ran nothing but Power in the 2nd Half.  Opponent was beyond horrible.  I gritted my teeth the entire game watching what our opponent was trying to do with kids who were completely confused.  Their kids deserve better and their coaching staff needs to be in front of a firing squad.

Funny conversation I heard yesterday during our game.  So the fans (parents and whoever else) can stand practically right on our sideline at the middle school field that we play on.  A teenager complains to his mom about our offense: "They're still runnin' that dumb $#!%.  I remember that from when I played here.  I'm glad I never played for that coach.  That offense don't teach you nothin'."  Mom replies, "Yeah, and they runnin' that Wedge, too."  (Although we didn't run Wedge yesterday.)

Keep in mind, we run it from Gun (we use Murphy's approach) and were probably ahead 30-something to nothing when the kid spoke up.  We scored on the first play from scrimmage (50+ yard run on Power); second possession we scored on two plays (Power and Trap); third possession we scored on three plays (Power, Power and Counter).

Yes, and not only that but we scored on plays (Power, Trap and Counter) that aren't DW-specific; they're found in any real offense.  And our formation doesn't even look like Double Wing, as our QB's in Gun and there's only one WB.  Honestly, it looks like a lot of the crap we line up against (except that our plays end up in the end zone).

This Saturday we have a 2+ hour drive to Charlotte to play the PAL Panthers.  They're supposed to be pretty good, so I'm looking forward to this.  Here's their vid:

Boring, dull, stupid......  I swear folks would rather lose 40-7 going 5 of 30 passing than win 40-7 going 4-6 passing with 300 yards on the ground.  Just goes to show how uninformed they are about the game.

Never heard anyone say Oklahoma needs to pass more with Billy Sims or Marcus Dupree at Running Back.  Add Rozier and Phillips at Nebraska.  BORING!  LOL

@youth-coach You're right! I never heard anyone say Nebraska was boring with Tommie Frazier, Ahman Green, Joel Mackovica and those cats. All we heard was "Can anyone stop the Huskers?"

I honestly don't mind the "boring, dull" comments.  I find the AirRaid about as exciting as watching paint dry.  However, it's when people say that the Double Wing "doesn't teach anything" or "doesn't prepare players for the next level" that their level of stupidity starts to show.

Whoa whoa whoa pump the brakes. Nebraska is the most boring lame pathetical excuse of a Program in the history of all College football Programs even when they are spectacular.

Seriously. The big red N on those helmets stands for knowledge. Their cheerleaders go back to grazing after the season is over. A Cornhusker? woooooo....intimidating. The best thing to come out of Lincoln is Interstate 80. Have you ever looked at the Nebraska State quarter ( 25 cents piece) ? Its blank. Nebraska sells out every single home game because there is absolutely nothing else to do except go cow tipping.

OK...Im a Colorado Buffs fans that has been abused far to long by Nebraska. ?
