Now that our tackle Spring League is officially done with one of the Owners hopefully in jail....we are doing this Flex Football thing.
We were all in last Spring for Flex but the Wuhan China Virus pretty much killed that.
Im calling it full contact Flag.
First practice is 3/17. Should be interesting.
What is beautiful, lives forever.
We looked at doing this both last year and this year...decided to go the 7v7 route instead both times, although we didn't get to play last spring. Basically, was concerned the temptation to just work on the run would have been too great...so...
Something that has my interest right now, is the Tackle Bar thing...if someone was doing that, I may have gone in for that...essentially, unlike flag or touch leagues, the players have to break down and get into a tackle position to pull the bar off...
TackleBar Football | Safer Football it's a bit pricey though...$55 per player...
None of them suck, they just haven't found what the kid is good at yet.

Hmmmm....seems like it would hurt if your landed on them? Whatever keeps the game alive....I am all in.

Games were supposed to start 3/26. Practice was supposed to start 3/17.
Roadblock #1: Denver got a historic (4th worst ever) snowstorm on 3/21. Our practice field got about 18" of snow with no drifts. We prohibited by parks and rec to practice on a wet field. Probably take a solid 5 days of warm, dry weather to melt and dry it.
Roadblock #2: Got hit again this weekend. 6" in my neighborhood, assuming about the same where we practice, near Mahonz's house.
Roadblock #3: Chance of snow every day this week.
Roadblock #4: My 22 year old son, who lives in my basement lost his sense of smell and taste this weekend. He got tested today, we will know for sure in a few days. I am undergoing 10 day quarantine. Getting tested tomorrow. What drives me nuts is that since I am 50, I became eligible for the vaccine on 3/19. No idea how long it will be before one is available to me. Pretty sure the universe is f-ing with me.

I did shot #1 a coupla weeks ago. Part 2 is this Saturday. Nothing else changes except the government will now be able to track me.

Lar,
I am driving to Grand Junction of Friday to get my first shot (4+ hours). Not waiting any longer. On plenty of wait-lists. Decided to hunt for an available opening. Not surprised that GJ would have openings.

Thanks for the tip. I'm waiting for my test results before I decide how to go forward. If I can get one in GJ and I'm allowed to, then I'll take that route. Right now, I fell like I have a cold. Not a bad cold, but a cold. No fever, no body aches, not overly tired. Jake lost his sense of taste and smell and is really tired. We'll get our results at the same time.

Thanks to Kent's tip, I found vaccine appointments in Grand Junction and Fruita this weekend through King Soopers. If my test comes back negative, I'm heading there Saturday. You are welcome to ride along with me. If I'm positive, I have to isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms (3/19).

Is this the Johnson and Johnson one dose....or Phizer 2 dose?
If its the one dose maybe we can make it a road trip.

I am officially positive for COVID. Very mild cold symptoms. No fever. No other symptoms. Jake says his sense of smell/taste is coming back. Our isolation ends Monday. I'll put off the vaccine till maybe next weekend.

So just to demonstrate that the universe has a sense of humor, I just got my COVID shots scheduled in Ft. Collins, 90 minutes from home.
