Entering Round 1 of the state playoffs this Friday night. We have approximately an hour and 45 minute bus ride. Our opponent played only 3 games this year, but is undefeated at 3-0. Wiki says about them, "...it is highly recognized for its football team, the Richmond Raiders, from which a high proportion of NFL drafts have been selected compared to schools of similar sizes across the nation." On video, they look massive. They have won 7 state championships and the local forums are already talking about them playing in the 2nd round. So either we take up gear this weekend, or live to play Round 2. Our health is the main concern. We lost our starting Right Tackle in the last game with a broken ankle. His sub is out with a high ankle sprain. Right now we're getting our freshman Right Tackle ready to play. We've lost our Division 1 college-bound Defensive End to shoulder surgery. Another RB is out with shoulder issues. Another RB is lost for the season with injuries, as well. With only 35 players, this is an issue.

We lost, 51-27. Our opponent exposed us for what we are: small and weak. That's not an indictment of our kids. It's just where we are as a program. They put out both of our RBs and our offensive line couldn't move the trenches. All 4 of our TDs came on quick scores, which put our defense right back out on the field fairly soon. The header is having a team meeting on Monday and I've gotten the okay from him to begin workouts on Tuesday. We need to increase our numbers and get 100 kids in the program. I'm reaching out to kids who played in 2019, but didn't this year. We also need to lift and get stronger. Much stronger. In the meantime, I've applied for two more HC jobs.
