I will run the DW.
I might just consider coming out of retirement! If I haven't moved to Orange Beach, AL.
Congrats. You are my new OC for 2022. I want to run the same DW we did with our 5th graders. What size coach shirt do you need?
Any lawyers on Dumcoach? Does this exchange constitute a binding agreement?
Game plan? I got your game plan. We gonna run the bawl some. We gonna throw the bawl some. We gonna play some defense. We gonna run some special teams, but we better not run kick return but one time and we sure as heck better not punt.
Flexbone works better with faster linemen and typically smaller linemen are quicker.
--So you think if Army could recruit a 6'-6" 335 lb. Offensive Tackle they wouldn't?
Pass-centric offenses can benefit from linemen that can anchor their gaps and heavier lineman have an advantage in that scheme over a light lineman.
--When I was coaching AirRaid, we had a 205 lb. Offensive Tackle who did just fine. We weren't concerned with heft, but how well they moved their feet. And given the amount of time we focused on footwork, they all had good feet.
We were more effective this year using a gap scheme than a big on big scheme but we couldn't overcome the limitations of a T formation well enough to make it over the hump.
--Most teams are more effective using any blocking scheme other than BOB.
Coach Kyle had a great point about using a zone scheme to the playside as an alternative.
--I really believe you're overthinking this.

You are right, I probably am over thinking it but as a last comment Army runs the flexbone because the lineman are small in comparison which was the point. That offense fits their size. They tried a passing offense under Coach Berry that failed so they talked Coach Ross out of retirement to run the Triple again. I learned quite a bit from Coach Ross (and Kevin) at USMA about teaching the flexbone and can tell you from our conversations he loved smash mouth football. He actually was the coached that coaxed me out of the UBSW and into the Triple.

--They don't run the Flexbone because their linemen are small. They run the Flexbone because it's a contrarian offense that's difficult to prepare for because of its rarity at the D1 level.

--Coach Berry coached for 13 years at 3 schools. He had winning seasons 3 of those years. Army wasn't the only school he failed at.

When I coached middle school there was a team that ran nothing but power out of the T. They also ran belly... which is almost identical. They won 17 games in 3 years and lost 1.

That is the most depressing thing I have ever heard you say. ?

LOL...nothing against the DW but Gumbys team as is isnt going to score more points than they are now by running power football. That has already been established and isnt working consistently. They need an O that can better promote Air Lar. The DW is not that.
What is beautiful, lives forever.
LOL, indeed.

Screens and quick game. I've pretty much eliminated everything else. I want the ball out in 2 seconds or less. We're not taking sacks.
I've cut things down to about five base plays that we rep over and over. Then run those five plays over and over in games. We get pretty good at them after a while.
I’ll bite, what are your 5 plays? I’m asking because I’ve found myself looking to attack the edges a bit more with passing, because we are slowwww. We are solid up front and are able to put together long drives, but things often bog down once we get inside the red zone because the other team just packs everyone into the box and we can’t get to the edge with any kind of toss or jet sweep action.
It doesn’t help that we are my clubs B side or JV playing against other clubs varsity teams, but I feel like I can do better at maximizing our skills.

Hey Mike! Haven't moved yet. Bought a lot on Ono Island in 2019. After the first of the year, we start the process to get a house built. No idea how long that will take. I understand the contactors are backed up due to all the work needed after Hurricane Sally

Bare bones Air Raid 2x2 set.
1. Y stick/H stick - backside is double slants or fade/out
2. Y corner/H corner - backside is double slants or fade/out
3. 4 verticals - can tag any receiver to run an individual route. Ex. Z-shallow
4. Double screen - Quick screen to the strong side with a tunnel screen on the weak side.
5. Inside zone or GT counter
(Beast package in short yardage at times.)
So then everything you do is a 5 man line, and the QB knows knows to get rid of the ball. Do you run the full Air Raid style practices with settle and noose, pat and go, and whatever those other staple drills?
About how far would you say your QB throws it? Sometimes I’m afraid my QB doesn’t have enough arm to throw it more
