The Big Game (Part II)
JV didn't play this week as this game was cancelled for a tornado that never arrived. Varsity, on the other hand, played last night. Going into this game at 2-1 our opponent (HSHS) was 3-0 and was the defending back-to-back conference champions. They said something on their twitter account about a 3-peat this year, which was interesting considering we were the only team to beat them last year. Anyway, we beat them last night, 35-0. What was interesting was that on our opening possession (which resulted in a touchdown), we ran the ball 10 times and passed only 3 times. We ran Zone only 1 time in the game. Mostly we ran a lot of Power, Trap and Inside Counter. We lead 21-0 after our first three possessions, and scored TDs in the 3rd and 4th quarters. For the game, we ran the ball 30 times and passed 21. Our QB was 14 of 21 with 2 TDs and our RB got his 8th rushing TD of the season. We did not turnover the ball last night. And only 3 of our players were starters last year on offense. All in all, a good night, putting us at 3-1 on the season.
