I know this is an old thread, but I don't see how PSG would step to the backside if this is true zone.  He should step playside, check the 5, then climb to B.

Psg slip blocking a 1-2i tech is not uncommon

I like stupid.  So when I talk about "combos" I tell my uncovered to "check climb" the closest first level threat.

For psg vs 1&5 the 1s closest... just my logic

I dont want my center to block a 1 playside especially to his snapping hand its a very hard block

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.

That is why we stress the backside punch it allows the C to get there. We have found it's all about repping it. Just because we are taking a Zone Step away from the 1 it doesn't mean we can't contact the 1. Now, if the 1 tries to "pin" around the guard we are in great position & C can clean climb. If the 1 tries to "bull" the C, the punch alone from the G will allow the C time to get his hands into him. Then & only then can the G climb.

I hope that makes sense, I only know it works very well for us.
