Very common problem. Center in this offense is a tough job. The first thing that most kids mess up is making their stance too wide. They want a good stable base to snap harder, but when their feet get too far outside their shoulders it makes it harder for them to step. Get on his butt about keeping his feet together.

Stretch was never a big hit for me last year. I skipped putting it in this year and use G a lot more instead. The thing I didn't like about stretch is the footwork is very different than anything else we do. Everything else blends together and Stretch is kind of an oddball scheme. Just my 2 cents.

How is your talent level this year now that the AAU team folded up? Did it increase or stay about the same?

At the oldest age group (used to be Midgets, now they're called Unlimited) it was a huge boon for us. It was a stroke of luck that our whole Conference went Unlimited in the same year the local unlimited org folded. Worked out really well. We picked up a few more players at some of the other levels, but none on the team I coach. Their numbers were so low and the kids over there had such a bad experience last year that I don't think it will be a big swing. But, it should help numbers wise in the future.

With the exception of their 8U team everyone of their teams were the conference whipping boys. When you played them you knew it was going to be more of an organized practice than an actual game. They seemed to do better at 14U but all other levels it was a one sided beat down. Glad to hear some of the kids found a place to play.

Big mike

We have continued to make progress its non specific ways.  Our splits got smaller rather then wider. We focused more on the initial pop at the line then the drive. We are now all in 3 point stances with a rythmic count (thanks Michael).  We are a game planned blocking scheme team. Sometimes we check climb toward or away the play. Sometimes we are a simple man on man count team.

Our drills have become more streamlined

- de la salle style sled work (20 minutes)
- board steps with defender (1st n 2nd level blocks...with different angles both sides) (10minutes)
- run period on weds (20 min)
- pass period thurs (20min)
... simulate pass run rush with and with out blitzing and stunting

Thats it

I can explain it to you, I can't understand if for you.
